Literary Writer’s Network Hosts Reading for Chicago Author’s Debut Memoir

Literary Writers Network (LWN) will host a special literary engagement featuring Stephen Markley, author of the newly released memoir Publish This Book: The Unbelievable True Story of How I Wrote, Sold and Published This Very Book

The book is a no holds barred self-referential account about life and love (and everything in between) and the unending struggle to find your true self in it all. “There are compelling, emotionally resonant passages… a reflection on what it's like to shake loose the influence of a literary mentor, for example, or a best friend's realization of just how much an unplanned pregnancy has changed his life,” said Publisher’s Weekly.

In an interview with LWN, Markley admits, “Mostly, I just want people to enjoy it—to laugh where appropriate and think about the larger stuff when they have time.”

Markley is a Tribune RedEye columnist and blogger, and a commentator for the automotive blog Kicking Tires. His fiction has appeared in the Chicago Reader, 10,000 Tons of Black Ink, and in Midnight Times, and he has had articles published in the Populist Progressive, Weber—The Contemporary West, RadarOnline and Private Investigator’s Magazine.

Please join us at The Book Cellar, 4736-38 N. Lincoln, Chicago, on March 26, 2010, 7-9 p.m. The evening will include select readings from his debut book, a Q&A with the author, and a book signing. Admission is free.
